Many of us struggle with our identities as wives and mothers. We don’t understand our power and influence within the home or know how to use it properly to the benefit of ourselves and our families. We don’t always appreciate the blessing of family and tend to view our children as obstacles to achieving our own desires. We sometimes see ourselves as not having reached our full potential, so we seek to find that fulfillment outside of the home.

Once we’ve crossed that threshold into motherhood, we’re shocked to find that it wasn’t what we expected. We weren’t prepared for the sacrifices, the constant pull for our attention, and the overwhelming demands on our time. Sometimes, we run and don’t know we’re running — or what we’re running from.

There are so many phases involved as we begin to transition from woman to wife to mother that we don’t always understand the processes that are taking place during this evolution. More importantly, we don’t always understand the beauty of what’s about to unfold inside of us once we embrace that inner longing to come home.
